At Caring For Cannots Foundation (C4C), the safety, dignity, wellbeing, and rights of every child are a top priority.

We are committed to creating a secure, respectful, and caring environment for all children involved in our programs, centres, activities, events, and services.

This Child Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to protecting children from harm, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and inappropriate conduct.

3. Zero Tolerance for Abuse

C4C has zero tolerance for:

  • Exploitation
  • Humiliating treatment
  • Discrimination of any kind

Any concern or allegation will be treated seriously.

4. Safe Behaviour Standards

Anyone working with children must:

  • Treat children with kindness and respect
  • Use appropriate language and conduct
  • Maintain professional boundaries
  • Encourage positive behavior
  • Supervise activities responsibly
  • Respect privacy and dignity
  • Report concerns immediately

5. Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are strictly prohibited:

  • Hitting, threatening, or humiliating a child
  • Inappropriate touching or contact
  • Being alone with a child in unsafe/private situations
  • Sharing offensive content with children
  • Using abusive language
  • Taking photos/videos without authorization
  • Favoritism or exploitative relationships
  • Ignoring signs of harm or abuse

6. Photography & Media Protection

We recognize the importance of protecting children’s identities and dignity.

Therefore:

  • Photos/videos should only be taken with proper permission
  • Images must be respectful and appropriate
  • Sensitive information must not be disclosed
  • Media must never exploit or embarrass a child

7. Recruitment & Screening

Where practical and appropriate, C4C seeks to ensure that staff and volunteers working with children are suitable for such roles.

This may include:

  • Interviews
  • Reference checks
  • Role suitability review
  • Safeguarding expectations briefing

8. Reporting Concerns

Any staff member, volunteer, parent, guardian, or visitor who has a concern regarding a child’s safety should report it immediately to management.

All reports will be handled seriously, sensitively, and confidentially where possible.

9. Confidentiality

Safeguarding concerns will only be shared with relevant persons who need the information to respond appropriately.

10. Training & Awareness

C4C encourages safeguarding awareness and appropriate conduct for individuals working with children.

Policies may be reviewed and reinforced regularly.

11. Online Safety

Where online communication or digital learning is used:

  • Communication must remain professional
  • Child privacy must be respected
  • Inappropriate digital contact is prohibited

12. Policy Review
